The Aiguille du Midi cable car •
Their holiday in Chamonix is not complete without up to Aiguille du Midi. "Aiguille du Midi"means "Needle at noon." The cable car up to 3800 meters and the station there are spectacular views of the French Alps, Swiss and Italian.
Two series of cable cars take to the mountains. At the second staging area, an elevator that takes you to an elevated observation platform. The view of Mont Blanc and the enormous range of the Alps is truly spectacular.

• Train Montenvers and the ice caves of the Mer de Glace
Historical and pinion drives the rack from the back of the station to the mountain to Montenvers. In order to pierce the ice caves of the glacier, there is a small gondola down the glacier, and then there are about 350 steps down a stairway to the Mer de Glace.
Skiers end their run down the Valley Blanche in the right place. You'll see them dodging rocks andMoraine area, as they finished their adventure along the glacier and the glacier to the land steel staircase.

Crystal Mountain has been mined in this region, so this was important in the history of Chamonix. The crystals are really beautiful. The museum is located at the foot of the north parking lot of the Office of Tourism. It 'very close to the city center.

The terrain of the walk from Chamonix to Le Bois is plain and easy.They pass through open fields and wooded areas with ease. An hour walk a way for Le Bois.
It 'can take the train or the back of the ski bus in the city.
This activity is highly recommended. And 'quiet and perfectly beautiful.
• Saturday morning market shopping center.
There is something very charming about the whole mozzying bric-a brac stalls at the market when you are on vacation. The markets are in a position in ChamonixShopping Center off of Aspen Place. It 'pretty close to the city center.
Also nearby are the medieval bridge and covered the restored stone mill on the Arve Rive, which flows through the center of Chamonix.

• Annecy France
Annecy, the little "Venice of France" is just an hour and aHalf away from Cham. It's worth a visit on market day.
It is a well-restored medieval town on the road and the canal to Lake Annecy built.
• CERN, Switzerland
CERN near Geneva is the place of the main research center for experimental physics in Europe. This is the mecca for physicists from around the world. You come here experiments in the Large Hadron Collider, some of whom are studying the Big Bang, the creation of the cosmos to be performed. Noblewinning physicists led by their revolutionary research here at CERN.
The tours are free and conducted by graduate students or retired physicist. It 'was fascinating for the non-scientific types in our family. Book the tour quickly, so you need a couple of weeks in advance.
Europcar, the car only in Chamonix has an office located directly opposite the station. It 'was only an hour's drive from CERN. We highly recommend this little trip to theChamonix holiday.
• Montreux, Switzerland
Montreux on Lake Geneva (Lac Leman as well) is the summer playground for the rich and famous. It 'absolutely beautiful. The city, which lies in water with the back drop of the mountains is breathtaking. Freddy Mercury and Queen band had a recording studio in Montreux. Chillon Castle, a stronghold of Savoy is authentically restored and has a good selection of medieval furniture.
